I'm currently training as a Primary Teacher so making a wide range of resources using a variety of programmes including ActivInspire and Smart Notebook. My shop also has some of my past resources that I made during my time as a Special Needs Support Assistant. I am also a Cub Scout Leader and have provided some of the resources I have made for this role where I feel that may be of use to others.

3 worksheets covering: Band Saw; Pillar Drill and Disc Sander. They ask the students to explain a safety rule relating to the equipment. When they have used the equipment and what the equipment is for. Each sheet has a hand drawn picture of the tool it relates to within my own school. I hope these might also be useful to some other people.
This booklet was originally made for a Design and Technology club that I was running at my Special Needs school. We had a range of pupils from Year 5 to Year 9. It was aimed at helping the students in primary transition in to secondary. The project was carefully chosen to use as wide a range of skills as possible. All of the students have a statement for autism. The workbook starts with a page on DT room safety; it then looks at the properties of materials and why they are suitable for the tasks we want to do with them; a bit of product research; design work; two worksheets covering how to vacuum form and solder and a simple sheet to do an evaluation on.
A TEACCH activity where students have to match a photo of the type of tool to a simple description about what it is used for. This worksheet includes: Laser Cutter, Pillar Drill, Vinyl Cutter and Thermo Forming Centre.
A very simplistic worksheet that was used to hit one of the outcomes of an entry level qualification. It simply shows 3 joints and gives the advantages of each joint then asks the students which of the 3 joints they are going to use. (Mitre; Half Lap and Finger Joints)
A series of three sheets to help students start the design process. It includes a template for them to record the design brief on - then moves on to an initial ideas sheet with room to record two ideas. Finally there is a sheet for them to use to carry out an access FM analysis of their prefered idea to help them develop it. This series of worksheets was used by a class in the Special School (Autism) where I work.
A worksheet that asks students to colour in the tools they will use in a project from a selection of given tools. Designed for use with our Special Needs students (autism).
5 worksheets covering the following items: hammer; g-cramp; tenon saw; coping saw and safety goggles. For each worksheet there are 6 differentiated variants: 1 - copy the name of the tool; 2 - find the name of the tool and write it; 3 - unscramble the name of the tool; 4 - fill in the missing words; 5 - complete the sentences (only the starts are given) and 6 - write about the tools (they are only given instructions of what to write about). Each sheet has an extension activity of colouring in the picture of the tool (or shading it at the higher levels).
A sheet with 8 spaces for students to draw and write about the stages they have to go through when making a bird feeder. There is also space for students to list the tools and materials they need when making the feeder.
A couple of worksheets based around CAD / CAM - one for a laser cutter and one for a vinyl cutter. These worksheets have a couple of hand drawn pictures of the machine and then some simple sentances to complete by filling in the missing words. (These are given in a word box on the sheet.) They are also asked to give an example of where they have used the particular piece of equipment. The draws are of a Denford Versa Laser VLS3.50 and a GCC StarPal Puma III.
A work book made for Key Stage 3 Special Needs students with a statement of Autism who are following the Cornerstones Curriculum. In this Design and Technology project students will design and make a night light. Please note that this booklet requires the use of an oven and a laser cutter to complete so is not suitable for primary settings (unless they have strong links to a secondary school). The booklet is aimed at a lower to middle ability group. Each page contains a lot of structure to support students as they complete the project. The pages also include space for pupils to take part in self or peer assessment. The booklet includes pages on: Design Brief Analysis, Research, Specification, Initial Ideas, Modelling, Circuit Design, Final Ideas, Production Plan, Manufacture, Outcome and Evaluation. It also contains a number of hand drawn pictures.
This project is based around the ID theme from the Cornerstones Curriculum. The booklet was produced for a medium ability special needs class. All pupils in the class have a statement of autism. This booklet uses my older style without regular self assessment instead it relies on teacher feedback.
There are pages on research, design ideas, final design, how to make, construction and final piece.
Here is a quiz I made for the Cubs in the summer term. It has a logo round, a Scouting knowledge round, a song round (using a clean version of the 4 chords song - link to youtube as was too big to upload embedded) and then the answers. I hope it might come in useful to someone.
A sheet to help students understand where they should be trying to go next in terms of their learning to help them make progress with regards to p-levels or National Curriculum levels. I've left in some of the targets we set students this term (autumn 2013) but have removed their names from the sheet. You should easily be able to modify them for your own use.
A drawing I made of the Bug Houses we produce that students could practice their shading skills on. (This is also included in one of the worksheet packs I have produced.)
A worksheet that asks students to match pictures of tools to their names by drawing a line between them. Designed for lower ability students. Originally made for use with some of our students working at the lower national curriculum levels in the Special School I work at for Children with Autism.
A number of worksheets to cover a project where the pupils make a storage tray. The first sheet covers shading, 2nd writing a design brief and explaining who the product is targetted at, 3rd ACCESS FM Analysis, 4th Ergonomics and Specification, 5th Handle Design and types of joint, 6th Final Design and the last page Development and Testing and Evaluation.
A record sheet to show the amount of support students need for different tasks. You score the student on the amount of: Verbal Support; Visual Support and Physical Support - with 1 being no support and 5 being lots of support. There is also a column to record how much Independent Work the student did and space to make comments - such as new skills seen, improvements in skills, etc...
A sheet that requires students to correctly sequence four of the stages involved in making a product. (Design, Marking Out, Cutting (etc...) and Assembly) They also have to fill in additional details about each of these stages. In this case the product shown in production is a bird house though the stages are the same for any hands on DT that doesn't require specialist equipment.
A series of worksheets to take students through the initial stages of making a Frame for a Mirror. The sheets include: Research, ACCESS FM Analysis of an Existing Product, Specification, Initial Designs (includes an isometric grid) and another ACCESS FM analysis sheet to help pupils develop their ideas. These worksheets were used by a class at the Special School where I work. (Autistic Students).
